Fred, can you use rimfire for deer in VA? I think you can in the south, or at least centerfire >.22.
This is common in VA, was stationed there years ago, MOST of the clubs require shotgun only (due to dogs). Also, a lot of areas are shotgun only. They have a dog handler/tracker, private or leased lands, and park pickups a few hundred yards apart in the fields against tree lines, put the lawn chair in bed and set up shop.... not my cup of tea.
