I would recommend finding some national forest or state land in GMUs 117/121 for deer. That would be around where your grandpa suggested.

Thanks everyone again for helping me out. I really appreciate actually getting some decent advice instead of getting shot down because i dont know much. Seems like i have a plan so gonna start scouting then hopefully later this year ill be able to post pictures of something!
