Spokane area - Must see?
« on: July 23, 2015, 08:19:49 AM »
I’m heading to Spokane tomorrow to attend a weekend wedding.  We might have a few hours free Saturday.  Would any locals have a suggestion or two of what to see or do?

Thanks,
Carl

The river is very low right now, but It's kinda fun to walk around downtown. There are suspension bridges to walk across for a good view of the river/falls (very dismal right now due to low flow) Lots of places to eat downtown. River front park, Gondola ride, Carousel etc

Riverside State Park if you wanted a hike (it is also on the river and very beautiful there) (need a Discover pass)

Well there is always Manito Park and Rose Garden, or the Finch Arboretum, or Glover Mansion,or perhaps the Looff Carrousel in Riverfront park.

Below the Avista building in downtown is a historical park. Believe it or not they even used to Fish Salmon there.

That is really cool when the falls are ripping. Haven't been down there with the low flow, but it is a cool little park. Just a side note. I proposed to my wife there in '92  8)

If you like to see the countryside?
Take a drive up to Mt Spokane State Park on top of Mt Spokane.

Good chance of seeing moose on a side road up there!

Pick some huckleberries while you're up there too!
