weatherby vanguard back-country?
« on: January 11, 2009, 05:09:09 PM »
anyone laid their hands on this model vanguard yet? 6 3/4lbs, 24" #2 contour fluted barrel and adj trigger <<<<<<<those stats catch my eye and i like the look of the rifle aswell.

should be a sweet shooter as with most vanguards

my question is how to they compare to say a kimber 8400 and remmy mountain rifle or other rifles in the same $1000 price range.

Never seen one in person, but they are really cool looking rifles. I wish they made the vangaurd left-handed :'( :'( :'(.

I looked at them the other day on Weatherby's site. Look great. If I was looking for a light weight rifle it would definitely be one of the first rifles I'd look at.

ive owned one of the older remmy 700 mountain rifles. it was nice to have that under 7lb rifle thats forsure. but the mountain contour barrel made the rifle inbalance. and i think with a #2 contour flutted barrel it should be a little better. even with the flutting there is gonna be a good amount of weight at the front of the gun to help balance it out.
