It looks like one of those half breed pybald lamas. Reminds me of the giant grouse story where a newby hunter shot a farmers emu and told everyone he killed the world's largest grouse. LOL

Cows can go into estrus sometimes as late as the end of November or even December and if theres a bull around he'll have no problem breeding them. I've heard elk bugling in November and have heard of instances where bulls are chasing cows and fighting other bulls that late. I'm sure thats what happened here and that calf got dropped real late.

I used to hunt that country back in the 80's before the spike only/branch permit regs.  It wasn't uncommon to hear an occassional bugle up on Miner's ridge, Twin Sisters, Bumping Lake in November.  There are late breeders in every herd.  Looks healthy, should survive at this point.
