I'm the buddy of the Ole Man!!! He's smiling now but wait till he gets the bill for the corn the bear ate ( just kidding)  He's a good guy and I'm glad he got it! After I got the call he had shot the bear, I drove to the field to check it out. There was no ground shrinkage with this one!!! It took five of us to slide it into the back of his Truck. The truck looked a little low in the back end, as I followed him to the scale, the scale is certified for trade.
   About a month ago I walked the field from front to back to check the corn late one evening. That could have been a encounter with a serious pucker factor . I don't normally carry a rifle when I check crops!

I was wondering when some pics were going to surface. One of my co-workers was telling me about it, heard he was pretty tore up, hardly any ears left, scars all over and teeth worn down. Big Ol Boy for sure!!

A guy I work with that lives in the area he and I were just talking about this bear and he told me they found spots where this bear dug a pit so he had room to lay down on his belly and then just grab the corn stalks and pull it into him and lay there and eat it. Lol if that's true that would be a sight to see!

Very typical for bears in corn to pull stalks to the middle, I've seen pictures where bears have made circles 30 or more feet across, with a big pile of stalks in the center

We have had bears in corn several times. Some will knock down large areas of corn. One large bear my son and I hunted three or four years ago would pull down15 to 20 stalks at a time, then sit and eat the kernels off the cob. This bear would leave the stalk standing and pull the ear off. And yes it dug large holes to sleep in. From the amount of sign it looked like he had been living in the field for a couple of months.
