Shooting Tripod?
« on: October 08, 2015, 05:24:20 PM »
I'm looking for a shooting tripod - mostly for hunting but also for the range.  Currently looking at the Bog Pod tripod or the Primos Gen2 Trigger sticks.  Any ideas about which to choose?  Is there something else out there you like better?

Carted around a Bog Pod tripod on a moose hunt a few of weeks ago. First time I have tried them on a hunt other than calling coyotes.
Turns out it came in handy for wolves at distance with tall grass/brush in the way & no other support.
The guide had a set of Trigger sticks that we tried out a few times. The legs had a tendency to splay out too far if we set up in a hurry and the top didn't swivel so..went back to the Bog Pod. Wasn't mine so I didn't mess with them enough to care that much.

Thought about getting some of these for the heck of it to try out. http://www.africansportingcreations.com/cat_shoot_sticks_10.php

One of the guides mentioned a 'snap on' type bipod or tripod he was impressed with, used by someone he guided recently-  Not sure of the brand - I am guessing it was a  Stoney Point Rapid Pivot Bipod or tripod. Said it worked well to carry and snap on when needed.

Good luck - buy one of each and let us know which is best.  :chuckle:

Thanks Windwalker.  I just checked out the African Sporting Creations shooting sticks...very interesting.  I think I'll start with the Bog Pod because I've had some experience with their bipods and they seemed to hold up well.  Thanks again for the information!
