Input on kennel
« on: October 26, 2015, 10:31:44 AM »
Just curious if any of you have any experience with real dog kennels, located in Buckley.  I'm looking to get a new GSP, as a hunting and family dog.  Thanks for any input.

A buddy of mine had a real nice gsp out of that kennel about 5 years ago. He ended up selling him to a guy in South Dakota who saw him hunt and decided it was best for the dog. My friend was focusing more on his waterfowl hunting and training his labs. I attached a link to youtube of us training his pup when he was 6 months old. The pup "Cactus" took his time int he field very seriously even as a young dog.

I hunted with a real dog offspring this september in montana on sharptails, real nice little dog in personality and temperment middle of the road average in performance, the dog was owned by Pat Boyer of Northwest Hunter Tv show and trained by R.J. Marquart of Quicksilver Kennels. Super star caninies are not made they are born, the stars line up 10 percent of the time to make a great dog, the rest are average. Most folks think they got the best, many believe it, truth of it is most people never own enough dogs to be able to make a non clouded judgement because they never get to see enough dog flesh. I've owned about 30, 1 great one, about 3 above average, 5 worthless not fit to feed pets and the rest plain old average.Watch the parents work, quiz some trainers who have worked dogs from that kennel as to the biddibility and memory retention. From what I saw of the real dog I'd try one if I was into wanting a shorthair.

Their dogs were also on American Gun Dog and I believe the host bought a pup from them.

I believe they don't advertise their dogs as field trial performers. But they do stress that they can hunt.

I have 2. One is 7 and she loves to hunt. She also loves to lay by the fire, LOL. She is a lot of fun to hunt with, not a huge runner. Has a great nose, an intense point and a lot of desire. The other is 9 months; she is out of a littermate of my older dog. I have had both of these dogs trained with Pat Murphy. He has worked with several of these dogs and seems to like them. I just got the youngest back last month and am really happy so far. I think this one could be a pretty nice dog. As family dogs they are very easy going.
Scott is a good guy and likes to sell to hunters. One of the buyers that was there on puppy picking day was getting a dog for field trials, she was not a hunter. I know other owners have gone on to trials, but I don't really follow that. :dunno:
Hope that helped...
