Strange hunt today –
« on: November 17, 2015, 01:50:14 PM »
Starts out with an uninvited guest meeting me at parking area – he seems ready to hunt and determined to go with us so OK …

We had to cross a grass field containing a herd of 40 or so elk in the pre-dawn gloom and driving rain – the dog (and new friend) chase the elk for awhile – then the elk chase the dogs for awhile – finally the elk run into the woods -

There is supposed to be a blind in the trees somewhere, but I never found it, maybe it’s covered with water.  The woods are full of elk and they are screaming back and forth –

Nothing flying, nothing calling, except elk – no blind – so we leave.

Down the road a couple hundred yards there’s a field full of mallards, and bulls – they are all very happy to stay and I don’t have permission to hunt that field.

Lots of water about – and lots of swans

No shots fired but a good day

So, what'd you do with the dog?

He's cute. Dogs are awesome. It sounds like you had a good morning without having to clean a stinky duck :)
