Sorry about your pup. I had a Springer that bit one once and my wife and I had to try and pull out the quills. By morning the dog was ready to go hunting like nothing had happened. We got very lucky. The late elk area we hunt have a few porcupine and they are kind of cool. Any other area and they had better look out. My daughter likes them because they are so tame. 8)
