Any body throw crab pots of the docks in long beach (nahcotta)

Heading down for a weekend trip for the clam dig and want to try something new. Was thinking about bringing some crab pots and giving it a shot. Anyone done it before, any advice. Also planning on trying for some sea bass down on the illwalco jetty. I've never done either before, just wanting to try something new.
