Rayonier Hunting Leases
« on: January 30, 2009, 11:24:08 PM »
I don't know how many of you have heard, but they are starting to sell chunks of land off to the highest bidder to lease up for hunting, camping, fishing, etc....although the main thought is for hunting.  They are just starting to market these and are in the process of feeling this out with the eventual plan of leasing all of their land where it is possible to do so.  This will take away a very large chunk of land most of us hunt on in western washington.  The system has a ton of flaws too many to list on here but I for one don't want to be stuck hunting forest service land where there aren't very many animals due to the lack of logging (another issue). So I just wanted to put it out there and see what everyone else had to say about the matter.  I for one wouldn't lease one of these, even if I had the money Rayonier isn't going to police the area so it is up to the person leasing to keep people out.  I don't think this will go over very well but this is just my opinion.

If the state hadnt been run into the ground financially then Washington should lease it.  In other states it is common for the state or the dfg to lease land for management purposes.  That or the state gives them tax exemption on property taxes for allowign hunting on it.
