Blacktail doe
« on: February 24, 2016, 08:41:31 PM »
Hello! I keep hearing different things about regulations on harvesting a Blacktail doe. Some say you have to have a special permit, but when I read the reg book "any deer" to me tells me that does are fine. I am a bowhunter and I have hunted whitetail deer on eastside, but am really looking into getting into some blacktail. I am just curious to whether I have to have a special permit or not. Thanks!

As long as the regs say any deer for the gmu you are hunting, you are good. It truly means any deer including fawn if that's what you want.

Seems like a lot of the gums on the west side are any deer for archery.

Good luck!

 :yeah:  That's correct.

Usually if you have a bow tag you can take a buck the first part of your season, that is, Sept. Then after general modern and muzzle loader season is over, (not sure if it is only December or not but check the regs) you can take any deer. I think there is a late muzzy season that can also take any deer in Dec.  Not sure if muzzy and bow are split or are at the same time in Dec. either.
