Fly fishing near priest river ID
« on: July 22, 2016, 08:04:46 AM »
I'm tagging along with my girlfriend tomorrow to priest river. She'll be in a conference from 10-2 so I figured I could do a little fishing to kill time and practice on the fly rod. Anyone have any information about good flies or a spot to fish nearby? Anyone care to join me? I'm new to the fly rod but any opportunity to get outside is a good enough excuse for me!

There is a park where the PO and the Priest river meet.  With a weighted nymph across the weed beds would should be able to find a smallmouth

Caddis work great this time of year.  Farther out of town you go the river gets a little smaller and the holes are easier to spot.  Access can be a pain though.

If you can drive to the lake, there are some really good spots on the river up there that you can drive to and fish.  The lower you go on the river, the more private land there is.
