120 grains to 137 grains triple 7 sliver finer grain " it lights better with musket caps" 350 gr. QT's from canada ...if you hand lap and or fire lap your barrel then you can shoot "Dead Centers" 340 gr they are more sensitive to loading with fouling in the barrel for repeated shots with out spit patching or clean between shots ....
we have dialed our muzzy in "Big Horns " I have reached 1992 fps with a washinton legal load 137 grs of sliver triple seven and 340 gr Dead centers from Canada Precision Muzzle loader bullets...these are special alloy lead and sabot combo is exceptional...I have pass through shots on elk with this combo .... and yes I would not hunt with out my peep sight ...We use the twilight aperture and as small as with find around .040 front sight ....

Mine likes 300 grain Speer Deep Curls with MMP sabots in front of 90 grains 777 ffg.  I also practice with TC Cheap Shots with the same amount of 777.

. Who sells the deep curls?  Can't find them anywhere in a Google search.
speer
for some reason the site seemed to be dead.  I found the bullets, but no option to buy or see a price.

They are pretty hard to find.  I haven't seen them for a few years.  I bought my last two boxes from Powder Valley.

yes it has been my experience that after the second or third shot, ...accuracy is not not what it needs to be if I do not spit patch or clean between shots ...however by lapping the rifling ( aka polishing the grooves so not to collect plastic from sabots ......it is all about the resistance you feel when loading the sabot ...

On my MK's I use a Williams FP peep site.  It has adjustable 1/4 min clicks just like a scope. I also change the front sight over to a Williams Streamlined Ramp with a Williams Fire Site and Fire site hood... makes it appear as if you are looking through a 1X scope.

I have shot the 300 grain Bloodlines for years but the last few years I have switched over the Lehigh .458x305 gr. - 45-70 bullet.  I get better accuracy using a MMP HPH-24 Black sabot than using the Orange 458x50 cal sabot.  The 24's hold the bullet tighter in the sabot so they do not slip on ignition.

With cap ignition I also prefer 110 gr. T7-3f ( burns cleaner and ignites easier) and I use the RWS Dynamit Noble 1075+ caps for hunting and CCI #11 Mags for recreation.  The CCI's will work just fine for hunting also but I like the convoluted side of the RWS cap and the tighter fit.

What size Williams streamlined front ramp do you use for a knight big horn? Also what size and height Williams fire sight do you use for a big horn?

You are very wise to mention sight height!!! ...We fought that for awhile ...then it got worse when Knight quit selling the .040 front sight I think  we where buying .550 height sights to use with the WGRS sight ... however since then I have purchase the FP rear sight like the picture on the last post this is without a doubt the one you want you will have full range of adjustment ...

it has been my experience that a smaller dia. front fiber optic sight IMO .040 is perfect for hunting . This allows you better target acquisition past 100 yards. Another trick is to purchase a target peep aperture .050 however do not hunt with it in dark timber ...do not ask me how I know...However you can drill the .050  to .062 aka as 1/16" this will allow very fine sight picture along with the twilight Brass ring it is an excellent low light combo...

            Williams Front Sight Combinations

Two screws for the ramp...  These are from Brownells

962-020-097WB
Streamlined Ramp 3/16" Screw-on
Mfr Part: 1690

I believe Williams says a .375N front sight for this application - I prefer a .343N as it fit closer to center under a fires sight hood.

962-564-350WB
Red Fire Sight fits 343N
Mfr Part: 56435

962-564-360WB
Red Fire Sight fits 375N
Mfr Part: 56436

962-000-016WB
Fire Sight Hood
Mfr Part: 70031

Hey sabot loader. Couple questions. Do you know if that set up will fit with the Williams peep in the pic I posted? And also do they make that fiber optic part in green or yellow fiber? My eyes don't do well with red.

Thanks

I had that williams WGRS rear sight, and changed it to the Williams FP.  The Bighorn uses the FP "legend"

I couldn't see red at dusk, so I bought green replacement fiber optic material from Brownells or Midway.

I have 3 different screw in peeps, ranging from small (about .050, .090, and a twilight .120 (has a brass ring).  Last elk I shot, I had no peep screwed into the sight.  Heavy timber, early morning.  68yds, bedded elk

I have one of my MK 85's set with a WGRS and the factory front site.  The WGRS is mounted on the rear of the receiver.  From that I would believe the Williams front combination I have suggest would work.

You can easily change the color of the fiber optic.
