Colockum hunt
« on: November 07, 2016, 08:13:33 AM »
Had to cut this weekend's hunt short by 2 days because my buddy was feeling very ill and we headed back into town for meds. I saw about 8 cows up there and one massive bull, no spikes. I did see about 3-4 carcasses recently cleaned...all cows. I'm hoping they had cow tags and weren't just shooting whatever they saw. There were no wdfw officers to be seen like we saw before in the Blues. I'm pretty bummed about missing out on my tag, but I guess my hunting partner's health comes first.

Heard lots of shots yet saw nothing in the day so I don't know where these suckers were. We put miles upon miles on our boots getting far from the roads to get down in the steep and nasty valleys. I don't really know what else to do in this area other than that. Most people were just parked on a side of the road, maybe waiting until they saw something move.

We were in the naneum part of the clockum and the elk disapeared, obviously a few opening day got shot, then everyone was looking for elk but seeing nothing. I know of 3 spikes and 2 cows killed.  I am sure there are a few more, but it was slim pickins and lots of orange.  I didnt think a cow tag would.be easy by any means but i did expect to.fill it. Our camp was 0-3

Got there on the 7th, to scout for late season. Didn't recognize the place. Hunted it during early archery, was gonna go back. Don't think that's gonna happen. Almost got stuck a time or two
