Funny thing happened on the first day, I shot a nice 4x4, it rag-doll rolled over a drop and I thought it was down.  I was on the blood trail when a boat pulled in below me and proceeded to shoot a bunch.  Sure enough, my deer staggered to its feet after a big drop and was blasted to bits by a couple of guys who saw it on the open hillside.  It was the first day of my hunt and one of them was a 14 year old kid.  I talked to them before either of us got to the deer and they initially told me the deer wasn't wounded. When they saw my pants, sleeves, and hands dripping wet with blood from the trail I had been on, they suddenly changed their tune.  I had seen a big three point earlier and surmised that was what they shot.  They weren't sure on the point count so I went back to the blood trail while they went right to the deer.  Sure enough, I followed the trail to the deer and met them again.  They had it gutted and tagged.  Long story short is I got a backstrap and the kid got a head.  I saw them pull in and when they started shooting I ran down a bit and saw them hit it in the back quarter and then again in the mid-back.  It was a slightly bigger deer than the one I got, but in the end, it somehow all turned out ok for me.
