Sorry Jack I don't mean to ignore you, I have not killed a wolf yet but In 2015 the same day I killed my whitetail I had a very close encounter with 3 of them, one enormous male I would assume and 2 smaller tracks all in the same group. Never got a shot but I'm pretty sure I was within a couple hundred yards of them, in that type of cover and terrain though that might as well be the distance to the moon.
