Hankcock Permits
« on: April 19, 2017, 01:03:31 PM »
I am starting to think about getting a Hancock permit for the first time and really not sure which one I want to go for. I grew up hunting the White River area back when it a weyerhaeuser permit but its been since probably 2002 since I have been in there. My question for you guys that have hunted these before what are the benefits and downsides of each? I know of the elk draw for the Kapowsin and Eatonville locations but what else is there? Is one better for glassing? Foot hunting? Road Hunting? What about bear or deer populations? Are they all relatively similar. Bear would be my primary focus with this permit since I do most of my deer hunting over east. I also know White River is now open to the Mucks and a lot of it is shut down and the hunting is limited now. Do all of the areas give out the same number of permits?

I guess the main purpose of the permit would be to have somewhere I could get fairly locally. I live in Bonney Lake so none of them are a horrendous drive for me, but I think the Kapowsin permit with the Buckley gate would be the closest to get somewhere I could hunt after work.

Thanks for  your input everyone.

White river is not worth it, unless you like dealing with Indians with a attitude.
Kapowsin and Eatinville are fun, but you need to take the time and learn the areas.
Also, you need to go on to there website, and read about there programs.

There is no greater respect to have for wildlife than to harvest an animal fairly and use it's flesh to feed your family.  ~me

I'm not sure you can still go in the buckley gate, the mucks bought that land a while ago.  The pass is over priced for the quality you get, or lack there of. Just my   :twocents:

We still have access to Buckley gate. Just not much land back there anymore.
