just buy a Chevy

Chevy truck, what an oxymoron. I have several friends that went the Duramax route and most are unhappy with them. They have had them in the shop with issues far more than myself or friends with 7.3's. They spent so much time and money on the tranny they neglected the rest of the powertrain. I have personally witnessed 2 different friends have their Duramax go into limp mode, for two different reasons. One was going over the pass in snow, as we later came to find out the air intake gets easily clogged by snow when driving in it, causing limp mode or no power. The other time was towing a boat to the coast, limp mode going through the twisty hills out of Raymond. Chevy makes a nice lite duty, cushy ride truck but I will never buy one expecting it to compete with my Fords :twocents:

Every single person I know that has a powerstroke wishes they didnt buy it!  I have two duramax's and spend plenty of time driving in snow/storms (once from here to New mexico through Oregon/Idaho/Utah/Colorado and it snowed hard all the way non stop)and hauling (mostly over 5,000 lbs and over 1500 miles each way) and have never went into limp mode.  I have also never had either truck in for anything except a recall for the tailgate straps and a squeeky seatbelt.

However I do believe that every maker has a few lemons roll off the lot and the trucks you witnessed must have been them...Everyone I know that drives a Dodge also loves it.  The Fords have the biggest cabs, but the biggest problems...

The 7.3's are great motors. The Fire Dept I work for shops for older, low mileage Ambulances with the 7.3 motors. The FD bought 3 very nice rigs from a small fire district in New York to avoid the 6.0. They all had less than 15000 miles on them. My personel play/hunting rig is an 04 F-350 with the V-10. I really like that truck!

I have an 07 F-350 with the 6.0 and it's been good to me so far. I also sold an 07 duramax to buy the Superduty, the Duramax had problems the 1st week I brought it home.

2001 f250 7.3 powerstroke diesel 4x4 extended cab. automatic, lariat, matching canopy, linex bedliner, new alpine stereo, all leather heated seats, power doors and windows, running boards, has extra trans cooler, just put new 4' exhaust, edge evolution chip, cold air intake and new tires. 91000 miles. I set this up to pull a 5th wheel and ended up getting a motorhome. don't need this big of truck. would be interested in smaller gas truck or an older diesel

Wow glad to hear all of this.
I have a 1999 with 37k miles. It has spent nearly everyday of its life stored in the garage,
It only goes hunting and towing the boat and an occasional road trip.
Think I will keep it another 10 years.

John
