Would this fall under legal? Or has anyone ever tried something like this. I tinkered around with something like this but same concept and wondering if it would be legal or even work since I never got the chance to use a DP.

Illegal here in WA, plus I have used DPs (really like them for coons) and I have doubts that would actually hold a coon or stand up to the abuse it would take if it did hold a coon for any length of time.

Abuse is what I am worried about. Rat traps should be legal to use and modify, that one in the video may be over modified but the regs don’t quite mention about modification.

I have to agree with Fred. George Brady and I went round and round with the Department on rat traps. They won't put anything in writing but a snap type rat trap they would consider legal if it had minimal modification. That goes way beyond minimal.
And yea, I can't see it ever holding a raccoon. I wouldn't worry about the trap holding up because the raccoon wouldn't stay in it long enough to damage it IMO.
