Spokesman Review Telegraphic Trap Shoot Competition 2018!
« on: January 10, 2018, 10:04:57 PM »
100th year of the competition! Just opened last Sunday and will continue every Sunday for the next 7 weeks at participating trap ranges across the Spokane/Columbia Basin/SE Washington areas. Any public participants welcome (check with your local gun club for specifics). Price to compete is the cost of a practice session (around $5 - bring your own shells) and high scores will be posted in the Spokesman-Review Newspaper (scores were "telegraphed" to the newspaper back in 1918) and online...Support YOUR local gun range and the great sport of TRAP SHOOTING!

This is cool. I've never heard of it.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I had a case of cranial-rectal infarction on my first bird and ran the rest. Son shot a 14. Proud of him.

Ahhhh you sound like me C Money.  I dropped bird 7 and I have no idea what I did wrong...my damn kid ran another 25.  Keep your kid shooting, it gives me a empty wallet and a lower self esteem :chuckle:

Between Hockey and trap shooting, the kids keep me pretty broke! Sure is fun though, and pretty good reasons to be broke.

It's tough shooting cold (1st round is the one that counts at my gun club)! Don't know if that's how all competing clubs do it?

You are right Calvin....the Spokesman is 16 yards and it has to be on Sunday, and it has to be cold gun.  After we shoot singles for the Spokesman we move back and shoot handicap for a club competition.

Anyone going to the ATA shoot Saturday in Colton...I have been looking forward to it for 4 months since my last registered shoot and the forecast is calling for blowing and drifting snow with 2-6" and 25mph guests.  I don't know if I should waste money to lower my average and freeze my @ss off or not.

Colton....wow Yup I made it, I should have stayed home.  No snow between Spokane and Colfax and then it was pretty rough.  End of singles the snow was blowing under my glasses and I could barely make out the birds.  Handicap was a rough I think a 88 won it.
