I found this event on the FB page and copied it here. A good way to check out the Island if you have never been. scouting is always easier when you can ask questions and walk around in the daylight to know where your options are.
Northwest Washington Waterfowl Association
Were on tour again this year!
Saturday, October 6th
Don’t know where to hunt or always wanted the hunt this unit but don’t know how. This is a fun opportunity to take a relaxing boat ride on the south fork of the Skagit River and met up with members of the WDFW. Each year the WDFW plants Waterfowl Forage Crops on the Farmed Island unit of the Skagit Wildlife Area. We will boat over to the unit and explore the island. WDFW personnel will provide the participants with information on the type and location of crops planted this year as well as the strategy for determining the types of crops planted each year. We will also walk out to some of the many Blinds that are constructed by the WDFW. So if you’re a waterfowl hunter, bird watcher or outdoor explorer, this is a cool place to check out.
Bring your family, boat and a back anchor or just catch a boat ride. We will meet at the Wildlife Area HQ’s Boat Launch at the end of Wylie Rd. just west of Conway at 10:00 am on Saturday, Oct, 6th.
See you there!
