If it's any help this weekend I saw a camp with 11 bumper tow trailers. I counted 15 pickups and enough quads to open a store.

I have seen less rigs in the Colville Walmart.

Sorry bro.  We have the same issues over here. I took all 3 of my sons out with me about 10 years ago.  They had really thinned the timber on a butte in one of my favorite areas and I thought a pre-dawn climb would set up some nice possibilities for shooting hours.  Once it was light enough to see down the slope we thought we had found "The Great Pumpkin" patch.  There was orange everywhere.  We just packed it in and moved.  Hunting here is really starting to be the pits.  Tons of hunters, way less access(equates to tons of hunters), and way fewer deers but more predators.  Good luck finding Shangri-la.

i love the people complaining how its crowded everywhere there is no where to hunt. I live near a gate for Timber co land that you can hunt behind the gate on thousands of acres today will mark the 3rd day not a single rig has been there and sunday there was 1 truck. I went and visited my brother in colville on Saturday and drove by some very good public land pieces and not 1 single rig parked at them. I started buying a rifle tag again 2 years ago after archery hunting for 20+ years and I have yet to see a hunter.

KC, if you have a current subscription, it should certainly show all types of land ownership and access. Try going into the bottom left tab labeled "map layers" open and click on the state, in your case Washington, this will bring up all the different map layers for the state, make sure you have the WA Public Lands and WA private Lands features enabled by clicking them, if they are enabled, there will be a bright green border on the layer tab as well as show "off" or "on".....
Just tend your own and live.

IMO.....OnX isn't perfect, but its pretty darn good. Recent land owner changes may not always show up on the maps and sometimes a new clear cut doesn't show up, but overall I think its a great hunting tool.

onX should show property ownership if the correct layers are on.

Not all public land is huntable. Some exceptions are National Parks and State Parks. Most DNR land and National Forest properties should be huntable.

Here are a couple onX images for areas near Mount Spokane:

We went out and walked around colville yesterday and only saw one deer and then we went and walked a lot of the abandoned logging trails around addy mountain and saw nothing, I think they're all cooped up pretty tight right now😑

OnX doeent help Washington hunters that much.  Most of the state land is well marked and open to hunting through some type of access. Finding BLM land is the ticket in states like Montana, Washingfton has very few BLM lands.

I feel that onX helps when trying to navigate unique locations or gain access.  I've used it this modern deer season to skirt along edges of neighboring private property.

I’m a pretty novice hunter but walking around Colville and walking some logging trails doesn’t seem to be the best way to scout?  :dunno:

Further off of trails.. sit... wait.. then you’ll have a better idea.

yes you are wrong, thats not scouting that is just spreading your scent around hoping to bust a buck. scouting would be done in the summer or all year tracking the animals, find out where they go, eat, drink, etc.

Apologies. All I was trying to say is I don’t think what they were doing necessarily gives them the clearest idea of how many deer are around.

Hunt your own land; managed by the Forest Service, BLM, or WDFW which is most of the east side of the Cascades.
You may need a Northwest Forest Pass if parking at trailheads.

OnX is the golden ticket to find huntable land. Any questions for specific areas, call the WDFW for that area and ask questions about restrictions. They are usually very helpful, and even tell you what they see out in an specific area. At least that has been my experiences.

I just called and talked to a guy who works for WDFW, and he answered some of my questions about a piece of land at Moses Lake.

Also, when I scout I am mostly looking for fresh signs of deer, than deer themselves. Hunting is more walking to an area and sit and wait. Just my opinion.

HuntWise works pretty well for me. App on your phone that shows public and private lands, as well as other variables such as moon phase, barometric pressure etc.

Plenty of public land, both state and National Forest. About the closest area you could go for mule deer. Used to be good hunting, not so much anymore. Success rate of 9% last year. Nice scenery and nice trails. Bring your bear tag. And be sure to have a Discover pass.
