Ground blind on pub land
« on: January 09, 2019, 01:21:45 PM »
I was thinking about adding a ground blind to the mix this year.  I’ll be hunting the NE and it’s usually pretty thick where I go.  Going into my third year hunting and think ambush hunting will probably bring me the most success.  Still hunting proved tough in the crunchy snow this year and I found myself sitting on trails for long periods of time.  I thought how nice it would have been to have at least camo netting to kind of fence me in a little.
So any tips for how to set up a blind on pub land in dense forest and how far ahead before I plan to sit.  And also any thoughts on my camo netting idea.

I have sat in my ground blind set ups over the years, especially for whitetails. You two main options are to buy one of the many available out there. They are nice because you can stay generally warmer and dryer as well as your movement is masked better. The main downside I have found is that they can be tougher to brush in and conceal and finding a decent spot for them with a view of the area you want to watch can be tricky. Your other option is to build a blind by cutting some surrounding vegetation and use that to gain some concealment.
