ELKNUT'S Playbook
« on: March 26, 2009, 09:58:16 AM »
Just finished the new book from ELKNUT, titled "Elknut's Playbook". I met Paul Medel (ELKNUT) at the 2008 Tri-city sportsman's show and sat in on his 45 minute seminar. I learned more about talking to elk in that 45 min. than I had from reading and listening to 30 years of books and tapes. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that wants to step up there game while hunting public land hi-pressured bulls. The book is less than $22 including shipping. Go to www.elknut.com and check out his website.

Paul's a great guy.  I've got his vids and I've spoken to him on a couple of occasions on the phone.

I agree!  I just finished reading his book, and it was a very worthwhile investment.  I've been calling elk since I was old enough to walk, and I'd like to think that I know what I'm doing out in the woods.  Reading his book and watching his DVD's, however, puts many things that you see, do and hear in the woods into a much sharper focus with meaning and a human intrepretation of what the elk are saying.  I can't stress enough how many years of experience these products could cut off for a beginning elk hunter!  The money you spend on his stuff will simply help put meat in the freezer and antlers on the wall, period.

I have his 4 pack DVD set and the book. All of his stuff pretty much goes hand in hand. It's nice to hear the sounds that HE is making and then read about them in the book. I also have his CHUKLER bugle tube. It gives the most realistic sounds with a diaphram that I've heard.  I'm going to order the scouting DVD next.

I've got the same stuff, hahaha.  I've thought a little about getting the scouting DVD, but I think I've decided against it for now.  I've got my systems down well enough to find elk in the woods using topos and Google Earth, and I'm thinking that I'll stick with that for now.  From what I've seen in his other DVD's, though, I think I can say that the scouting DVD would be more than worthwhile for anyone that has any questions at all about where elk live and why they are there.

elknut1, I went to your web site to buy you book and a cow calling DVD, and it doesn't let me, I try to put stuff in my cart and then check out, or buy it now, and it always says you cart is empty?  I have bought stuff from you two other times and it has never worked, I always have to call, or email.  You really should fix this, you miss the impulse buy at 2am.

Danny, LOL! You must be doing something wrong. We've had more than 200 orders in the last week & quite a few today. Give me a call & we'll go through your ordering together & see what the issue is & have it figured out once & for all! (grin)  208-630-3480 Thanks!

I am an expert at elk hunting and should change my name to the ElkMaster 3000.  I don't need to read a book or any advice I am that awsome.  :chuckle:

Ha ha just kidding.   I asked my wife to get me the 4 DVD set and the book for my B-day.  I can't wait to be surprised.  I'm pretty stoked.  They both sound awsome.

Danny, I went through the Site to see what could be your issue? I think I found out your problem. You are not "registering" you are going through all the motions in choosing items to add to cart then you attempt to "checkout" At that point you must click on one of the 3 links provided, New Customer--Returning Customer--Or I do not want to create an account! You must choose one of those before proceeding. I'm pretty sure this is where your issue is! Thanks!

Elkmaster 3000--LOL!! Understanding Elk is a school none of us will ever graduate from! (grin)

Videos are the best calling videos I have ever seen.  He is probably one of the most realistic/accurate callers I have ever heard and that was on film.  I'd love to hear him in the woods.  I can tell with about 90% accuracy who is man or elk out in the sticks.  I wouldn't be able to on him.

I know he'd call me in and be laughing all the way 'cause he'd know I was a hunter.  I'd be suckered hook, line and sinker with him making all the right calls at all the right times!  Paul's definitely put some serious THINK into his hunting and calling.

Doug & Todd, thank you for the very kind words! The Elk themselves are absolutely the best teachers, we are merely the students! Thanks!
