Washtucna youth any deer
« on: June 17, 2019, 05:07:42 PM »
My daughter drew one of the youth Washtucna any deer tags.  Saw a lot of deer driving through their last year between our Roosevelt second deer tags and a Blue Mountais elk hunt. I decided to put her in for that tag. I know it’s a lot of private, with a few patches of state and BLM here and their. Gonna try to make a two day camping trip and have her knock on some doors. Mom is only going to allow 2 days out of school, so we got 4 days total to get it done. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Honestly.  Take a boat down to Lyons ferry.  Put in, troll a steelhead plug down or up the river till you see a deer you want to shoot on the north side of the river.  It's core of engineers ground up to the fence with the little white signs on it.  Any deer that side of the fence is fair game.  Just make sure the motor on the boat is off before you shoot from it.  Easy peasy!   8) 8)

Nice. You think a 14’ Lund with a 6 horse on it is enough boat?  Should I be trying to borrow the neighbors alumaweld. Thanks for the input.  Need to see if I can talk the wife into a boat ride, of mama doesn’t want to we might have to keep it land based.

I used to hunt that in muzzleloader season when I was a little kid. It was really good for the first few years we hunted it. saw some huge bucks. It Can be frustrating the amount of deer right off the road in private fields hat don’t allow hunting.

That'd be plenty of boat for safeties sake, I run that river all the time with a 12 footer and a 8 horse, but don't get any illusions about going fast haha.  Like I said, take some fishing poles, there's good steelhead fishing around there that time of year.

My daughter has drawn that tag four times.  This year was four in a row.  Last year was the first year for  any  deer.   Was antlerless prior.  She started when she was 11.  Killed a 4x4 the first year.  A doe the second and a spike last year.
I like cats I just can't eat a whole one
