Long rod is definitely not the answer.  Long net doesn't work either as it is impossible to maneuver with one arm.

All I know is to not horse them in and whatever you do don't pull their head out of the water.  If all goes well they roll on their side right as the net goes under them.  I'm still waiting for that to happen though.

Chinook have the nasty tendency to take a major rip when they see the net and they somehow know to go for the kicker, around the boat, downrigger ball or around anything else they can find.  If I remember, I always loosen my drag when they get close to the boat and use 40 pound leader.

As I get older I'm getting better at embracing the fact that barbless hooks and solo missions will mean way more fish lost than I care to think about.  It's all part of the game.

Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

I was curious about this. I have a buddy that wants to hit the beach for some humpies and I'm waiting for good reports.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

7mm,

An old guy at Harbor Marine told me he got one fly fishing right off Bush Point last week from the beach.  Might be a good place to start.

Edmonds marina cam is usually helpful.

I didn’t make it out today, but heard it was slower. Maybe the weather and drop in the barometer?  Who knows. I’ll be back out tomorrow to give it a roll.

Pretty slow today.   My kid and I got one early at Jeff Head, but that was it.  Fished Jeff Head until about 8am, and then the east side of MA10 until about 10am...lots of grass everywhere today.
