Your videos and approach to hunting one of the most difficult trophy animals to harvest in very challenging terrain and unpredictable weather conditions are inspiring! Refreshing to see a solo hunter who puts his time in throughout the year to try to unlock the secrets of mature blacktail bucks. I know there's a few folks out there who do this year in-year out, but most don't have the mental and physical strength, time, comitment, fortitude, etc... Glad to see this at a time when it feels like hunting has trended toward team tactics and instant gratification. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks I really appreciate it! The first year I really pursued them ‘all in’ I worked so hard I thought my success was imminent that fall, I needed to be humbled.  I had to revise my approach to ‘if I never give up, one of these years I’ll be packing one of those monsters out’.  They are a challenge for sure, I’ve been humbled by them enough times they are always a privilege to harvest or even just to see, my blood still gets pumping with every single encounter.  Blacktail do a good job weeding out anyone looking for instant gratification or the fast track to a big buck.

Awesome!  A wonderful watch on an early January morning.  Thank you for showing us old guys how truly epic an alpine Blacktail hunt can really be.  I am not at all sorry that I will never suffer through what you passionately pursue.  Absolutely brutal!

Never heard how the Oregon hunt went this season.......

Oregon was fun learned some new country, extremely warm dry conditions made it a tough hunt.  One thing for sure is that area has a lot higher deer density than what I’m used to hunting, also the deer body size was about 1/2 what I’m used to.  I passed a few bucks but never found one I wanted to shoot.

Great videos! It never looks as steep in a camera as it does in person.
There is not enough wilderness left in the world, or in the hearts of men.
