Rear peep sight for a Knight Bighorn.
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:28:06 PM »
I’ve been kicking around purchasing several different rear peep sights for a Knight Bighorn muzzle loader. What are you guys running? What has worked for you?

I use this. Micro adjust with clicks is sooo much better than a set screw.

I've been considering getting one of these to mount on my Bighorn.

I'm holding off though because I'm not convinced that I actually like the Bighorn better than the old Winchester X-150 I was using. The Knight is a pain to clean and has given me more ignition problems than the Winchester.

I have the Williams on mine and I really like it! No ignition problems here. 90 gr pyrodex select under a 400 gr Harvester lead bullet in a black crushrib sabot fired off with a RWS musket cap . Cleaning is a breeze using windex with ammonia.

i've had the williams FP on my bighorn almost as long as i've had it (back when you could get them for 30 bucks from numrich arms).  its worked well, but it's a little tweaked from a spill i took when i stepped on some loose shale in the blues one year.

i bought an ultralight a little while back and picked up a WGRS sight for it.  I like how compact it is, and i don't usually mess with my sights once they're set too much to really need the adjustability of the FP.  time will tell, i could always switch them out if needed.  i do know that I had to clearance the stock on my bighorn to get a full range of adjustment out of the FP sight.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Do you just Purchase Windex w/ Ammonia? Or do you have a mix you do yourself? Curious.

I buy it in the quart refill bottle. I also use a small sour crème container and stack it full of premade patches. I buy the 2x2 and cut them in half. Then soak them down real good and wring them out as much as possible. I use 1 damp to scrub fouling and a dry one on both sides to wipe dry with after every shot.
