Updating an Old Knight MK85
« on: November 18, 2019, 09:33:47 AM »
I have an old Knight MK85 .50 Predator Grey Laminate/Stainless that I bought brand new when they came out... ya had it a while.  When I bought it, I installed the Williams peep and converted it to musket caps.

The gun has never seen anything but FF black powder and the Knight 310gr Sabot, which are a complete bitch to load I might add, but has been extremely accurate.  The gun hasn't seen daylight in probably 10 years and am now thinking it would be fun to get it out and update it with all the new goodies and loads.....

What would I be looking at for powders, bullets? Should I change the ignition?

Thanks!

I shoot my bighorn with the musket caps.

I like the 777 powder, and the Barnes TEZ290

I shoot 110 grain Triple 7 -2f ignited with an RWS 1075+ (#11 mag cap) never had a problem.  for deer I would suggest a Lehigh Defense .451x230CF in a MMP HPH-24 black sabot

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
