There's an elk that I keep saying "maybe next year" about.  I got into a herd one day and one of the calves was very dark in color.  It was that dark charcoal gray (black-ish) color.  No idea if it is a cow or bull.  I've been trying to find it again.  Since I'm not seeing it with the herds, I'm assuming it is now a young bull that is on his own before re-entering the herd.  Although, with so many cougars I think I know the actual outcome.  Keep hoping to cross paths with it again.  A few years back there was a cow in a herd about a dozen miles away that had a similar color, but not as dark.  Maybe this year, maybe next year.
