Outdoor kitchen for RV
« on: March 18, 2021, 05:30:38 AM »
I am building an outdoor cooking area for my RV

I am thinking of a camp chef 3 burner setup like this with the BBQ box:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00029KWPW/?coliid=I2X0CX49WAHO8Z&colid=1PF41YB8WHSPU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

and then a sit on top griddle like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PWVMK9L/?coliid=I249LARUOV1FBX&colid=1PF41YB8WHSPU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

What have other people used?  space is of course important - this looked like it gave me everything I need to cook, BBQ and griddle in a modular package.

I kinda like this one better as it folds up well and has two flip outs - one on each side

Up until a few years ago, that was my set up. Nowadays, it's a Blackstone. There's several models to fit your liking. I also use a couple farming discs turned into woks for a lot of the cooking. Some trips I throw in the camp Traeger. Food is always top priority :chuckle:

sounds like Phillip and Greg too. They need shirts that say "Hunting, But first, Food."

I use the BGG, I did get the wind screen it helps when not using the BBQ box. I use the folding wing for a 3 burner stove. That way I can have 6 things going at once. Most of the time I leave the box in place and run three burners.

BBG = camp chef Big Gas Grill?

Good info.  Not following the windscreen/6 things going at once comment.  Do you mean that when thw grill box is off, and the wind screen is down, you can put two pots/sklillets/etc per burner?  I.e. handles can hang off both side of the unit?

The wind screen, it prevents wind blowing the flames. The wind screen can not be used with the BBQ box, it prevents the box lid from opening. I put a three burner stove on the fold out table. So if I’m not using the BBQ I have six burners. I’ll see if I have any photos and post them. Yes it’s the BGG

I use a coleman roadtrip that I've converted to use the rv accessory port.

It's lightweight, cooks ok for a variety of cooking methods, and easy to use.

I did mine myself, but so many people have been doing this folks are selling custom fittings to make it easy button.

Now if I want to do serious cooking I load up all my campchef griddles and accessories for big fajita cooks or crawdad boils.
But most of our camping trips are focused on watersports or hunting and its just get something in the kids bellies its the coleman roadtrip that lives in the rv.

All we use when camping ( even though we have 2 stoves in the trailer) is a 3 burner Camp Chef , a Camp Chef griddle and the Camp Chef BBQ box . They all work great

Same setup, but it stays home 90% of the time lol

What I like about that setup I can still use tbe burners for giant discadas or woks, or pot of crawfish.

Not so much blackstone, but its a better griddle with even cooking temperatures where the campchef griddle has hot/cold spots.

Gotcha.  Would love to see a pboto.

The blackstone looks nice too.

Kf and others thanks for the info.

Leaning towards the campchef set up!

I have a buddy who has one of those and it is really nice.  Easy to transport.

Might be a phase 2 purchase!

Ha, the older we get, the more important certain things become at camp and Greg's rib steaks over charcoal as the sun goes down and Philip's breakfasts ready before the sun comes up are surely atop the my list! :chuckle:

So is the stainless griddle better or worse to cook on than a traditional cast iron griddle? I have the camp chief 3 burner and its great! We also use it for canning and can run three canners at a time.

I would take a cast iron griddle any day over a stainless one. :twocents:

You'd better just focus on your hookset techniques and save all the extra room in your boat for blankets and a heater :chuckle:

Well, I  decided on the outland portable stove, the camp chef bbq box, and the little griddle.

Very happy with the stove and bbq.  The stove is well made and feels sturdy.  I like the way the legs fold up and the wheels are handy for moving as it is about 70 pounds.

The griddle is nice, but a bit on the thin side. Warps a little when heated.  Not bad but noticeable. The grease trap is obnoxious to clean too.

I test ran it all on the deck and the system works well.  I am quite happy with it.  Will be setting it up with the RV in a couple weeks and using it at Boomershoot end of the month.  I will get photos.

I have never used a griddle before.  While the one I got was just "ok", i loved the concept enough that I went to walmart and picked up a blackstone for the deck.  Used it last night and I can tell I am going to have fun with that!
