Stoegers and slugs
« on: October 26, 2022, 06:00:09 PM »
I have a stoeger m3500 which is a very popular duck gun. I'm having a hard time getting it to group with slugs past 50 yards and was wondering if anyone has had good luck in their stoeger with a certain slug type or manufacturer. From what I've read from Internet sleuthing, stoegers are under bored. I have a rifled slug choke which has about a 50% success rate stabilizing sabots which just isnt good enough to hunt with. I tried 3 types of sabots and the groups were erratic. My groups with Winchester superx fosters are at 50 yards around 5 inches with a lead sled. Both 1oz 1600fps and 1760fps held similar sized groups. Out at 100 yards it's around 12inch groups.
Anyone have a slug that groups well in their stoeger?
I haven't tried federal truball, fiochi aeroslug, or brennekes
