Some results from Utah Hunt Expo
« on: February 04, 2023, 05:16:54 PM »
Took a bonzai trip down, unreal show!  Some results from yesterday's auctions. So for deer Wyoming gov tag for deer, elk, or antelope your choice 66K. Friday night auction was crazy, Utah San Juan unit deer tag 52K, New Mexico Special deer tag 85K, Nevada state wide heritage tag 160K.  The lists go on and on. Lots and lots of governor type tags from Colorado, Utah, Nevada, AZ that ranged from 35 to well over 100K.  Utah's Henry Mountain deer tag was 110K and here is one for ya, Antelope Island Utah, 500,000.  The other tag will be in the regular draw. YOu can image the sheep tags but Oregon's statewide deer tag was 82K, Washington state muley tag 42K. Box Elder sheep tag was 135K.  Later tonight is the Saturday night auction which has even more tags.  Right now the Washington 3 deer is at 25K  You can bid early and online but the live auction for these tags continue later night at a dinner auction event. It will start out at 25K Will see where this one goes.

But for normal people the show is well worth it.  Doyle Moss (Mossback) display is stupid crazy, nothing but 380 to 440 type bulls all from last year 2022. And I don't think he displays any Muley's under 190.  Several 220-250 plus.  I heard him talking to a kid who brought in some sheds from his ranch and Doyle told him if that buck blows up next year he would consider a 15-20K finders fee to hunt it.

You can follow the auction results by downloading the Utah Hunt and Conservation EXPO app on the various phone stores.

Obviously hunting is becoming  a rich man's game!!

Far from a rich man’s sport. What percentage of hunting do these auction tags make up? My guess is far less than one percent. All that money raised goes towards conservation which is a good thing. That money then can in turn be used to improve habitat, etc. We ALL benefit from that.
