Rats. Maybe there’ll be a few leftovers

There are always tags that don't get picked up, last year I'm not even sure they completely sold out.

would have sold out in minutes if WDFW didnt change the way the leftovers were sold. There was people getting emails in November that they were up next to purchase a multi season. Sure hope that process changes
How are the leftovers sold now?

Last year they held draws of the eligible buyers remaining in the pool and sent out notifications with 2 weeks (I believe) to purchase. They repeated the process as long as there were tags available.
This process could work if they organized the buyer list prior to August 1st and initiated it right away. Instead of dragging it out past most of the general seasons and defeating the purpose to begin with.
I suppose I would like to see the purchase period go away and just keep adding eligible buyers each week after Aug 1.

I would like to see the list established August 1 and emails go out with folks having a shortened time to buy, i agree with Mfowl 2 weeks is 2 long. BUT I  hate the rush and urgency fighting to the front of the line for every other permit/tag/you name it out there. Kinda nice to have a second to decide to purchase in peace and stress free.

From the top of the losers list, first guy/gal that was next in line that didn't draw will be notified.  I was pretty high on the losers list last year and got my multi elk, it's not another drawing, it's just a continuous from the first draw.  I think I had a couple weeks or longer to get my tag, then they move on to the next losers.  I liked it much better than the 30 second sale for over the counter.   They just need to shorten the time up to buy the tag from the very first draw!!

I'd say the week before special permits are due, give some a chance at utilizing the best part of the tag.  That gives those first drawn peeps at least 4 weeks, if they draw this week.
