Anyone on here ever hunted them in the Ruby Mtns in Nevada? Would love to see a mount of one.

I had a chance to buy some when we first started raising birds, I was dead set on my mountain quail so I passed to get the mountains. I tried later to find some to buy and found none in captivity in the US  :ACRY:. Hunting them would be a treat if I thought I could handle it. Best of luck to you!!

I have a friend who hunted them in the Ruby's.
He got his butt kicked big time from rough terrain and some
fairly high attitude 10-11K ft.

They were on my list as well when I was raising birds, but I never found any.  Then I drew a Ruby tag, but wasn’t able to go due to family matters.   Thus a dream never come true for me.

Once, saw one bird, heard many, tough as stated.  Would do it again if the body would let me.  Rubies are special, draw a deer tag, hunt the birds, just go.

I've never heard of these before, so cool!  As an upland hunter, I'd love a crack to get one someday.  I've never put in for out state hunts, but I would for this one... so I could hunt the birds too.  I'm gonna guess it's hard tag to draw and a long wait time??  Bummer you didn't get to go.

I'm thinking it was 5 to 7 years applying.

Thanks, that seems reasonable to me, just didn't wanna put in if it's like 20-30 years.  I'll def do some research into it now.
