Scotch Creek Eder Unit modern deer hunt
« on: August 13, 2024, 06:49:03 AM »
Hey all, I just received my access permit for the Scotch Creek Eder Unit modern deer hunt!

I'm typically satisfied with meat bucks, but I want to treat this as more of a quality hunt, given the low odds of me drawing my preferred quality tag any time soon.

I've scoured the site for previous threads, in the hopes of finding some good info & tips.  I've found a number of members who in years past have offered assistance via PM, but about half these members have not been active for several years.

So, I'm starting a new thread, humbly asking for help from locals who know the area, and anyone who has hunted the Eder Unit.

I'd be grateful for any PMs with info that can help make this a successful and memorable hunt!

Cheers!

I'd fill-up my tank and go scout/hang cams if it were me. I'm 470 miles away from the WA area I'll be hunting and just made my 4th trip up. E-scouting helps but, for every 10 spots I check, I like 1. Maybe someone gives you some insight.

Its not a quality hunt so I wouldn't treat it as such. There can be some nice ones in and out of there but I wouldn't set myself up for expectations. Last time in my daughter had the tag, this is what she took.

That's one heck of a commute!  But yeah, I'll be up in the Methow Valley in a few weeks, so I'll plan to get over to the Eder Unit for a day and find a place to leave a cam for the next couple months.

I shot a deer comparable to your daughter's about 25 years ago.  Congrats to her!  I'd be more than happy to bring home another one like that!
