Smith Rock, OR
« on: June 21, 2009, 08:41:07 AM »
Went with some co-workers down to Smith Rock SP in Oregon for some rock climbing last weekend. We had originally planned to climb the South Sister, but thunderstorms kept us away. What a beautiful area!

Ray and I have been there sweating in the heat. He always loved belaying me when my hearing aids would short out from the excess moisture from my sweat.  :chuckle:

That is really beautiful country.  Have you ever taken the winery exit off of I90  on the east side of the vantage bridge.  Go a couple of hundred yards north of the freeway and turn left down into the canyon.  Go down a mile or so and there are cliffs and such everywhere.  One spot a lot of climbers use to train.  it is some big columns of columnar basalt on the left hand side of the road.  Go down the road further and there is an undeveloped camping area with sana cans.
I've slowed down enough in my old age to finally let the game catch up to me
