Anybody Use Tire Rack

Honestly?? From a guy who sells tires, along with the competition around selling tires, I’m not sure why anyone would use Tire Rack. Most brick and mortar places offer a low price guarantee on tires. We do. We also do buy 3 tires and alignment, get the 4th tire for a dollar. Happy to help if you want to pm specifics and if you’re local to me and it makes sense. We used to be a Tire Rack installer. Giant pain in the butt.

Full disclosure. We’re not doing any big/oversized tires. We’re a Ford dealer. I can get lots of sizes but we’re not dealing with big giant tires.

What he said.

Goggle the reviews, warranty work is an issue with them.

Used them some years ago.  Getting them installed was a bit of a hassle and no follow up service like tire rotation and balancing offered. Prices are no better than competive locals who offer good follow up included services.  Maybe it's changed since I used, but too many good choices close by.

Haven’t dealt with them in years but you used to buy them online and they were shipped to an installer who had a contract type setup with them. I don’t remember the details but on the installer side, everything was a hassle to the point our relationship with Tire Rack was short lived. It’s probably different now.

America's Tires/ Discount Tires  bought Tire Rack some time ago.

Tire Rack is a good site for determining what you want via their testing.  Then I just buy from America's.  They've treated me quite well for like 30 years including being a proxy with mfg's.

In contrast, Costco just shrugged their shoulders when I had 2 tires (1 year old and 10% worn) fail on my dually I had purchased at Costco.  I then took them to America's who shipped them to Michelin (they were BFG) for evaluation on their dime.  Michelin replaced all 6 through America's.  America's also acted as a proxy with mfg when I had some tires show excessive checking "ahead of schedule".  They negotiated a substantial discount with mfg even though they were outside of mfg warranty period.  I overheard the conversation and I couldn't have pleaded my case better.  I could go on with the above/beyond customer service I've experienced there.

I’ve used them numerous times personally and several times for work stuff. I’ve never had an issue and with deals and rebates their prices have been hard to beat. Them or simple tire.

I've used Tire Rack numerous times over the past 15 or so years and my experience with them has always been positive.  I generally buy my tires from Discount but when they can't get something and Tire Rack has them in stock it works great because they're owned by the same company and I just have them drop shipped to Discount Tire.

Also, tires purchased from Tire Rack come with a free two year road hazard warranty.  A couple years ago my wife was driving home from the airport and ran over something in the road.  Before she could get pulled off the freeway and to a safe location it ruined the tire.  They were new snow tires I'd just had put on a few months prior.  I forgot all about the road hazard warranty they came with from Tire Rack and in all honesty figured it was probably just a sales gimmick when I originally bought them.  Regardless I forgot all about it and because these had so few miles on them went ahead and just bought one new tire.  It wasn't till after I bought that replacement tire that the light bulb went off and I thought I'd call Tire Rack and see about this warranty they come with.  The guy I talked to was great to work with and because the new tire I bought had already been processed he couldn't pull the order back but got me in contact with the warranty people.  I had to send them a picture of the tire that was ruined and I was actually expecting to get some kind of run around but to my surprise they fully reimbursed me for the cost of the replacement tire and sent me out a check for the full value.  I don't remember exactly but I think I had a check from them in the mail in around three weeks.

I don't know if I was just lucky and the people I was connected with were all having a good day or if things always go that smoothly.  It's the only time I've ever had a tire warranty claim but my experience with Tire Rack on that claim was great.

The PNW is the most competitive region for tire sales(good for the customer).
Tires are a 2 part purchase. The product and then the service. Some items don't require service as part of the sale. I ve mounted 90% of the tires I have purchased but most people don't do that, certainly with tpms sensors and the garbage tech they have now.
Tire rack used to have a list of preferred installers and if dlDiscount now owns them... sounds like that's where to go if they have something you like.  Breaking a tpms sensor when you dyi will cost more than the extra you pay at a shop, and most shops won't touch a vehicle that is supposed to have the sensor and does not.

None of my rigs have that tech and I've purchased almost all my tires used and mounted them myself. I think more folks should have a good spare mounted on a wheell IMO.
