Sorry everyone, I have been trying to hunt archery antelope in thundershowers  :bash:

Toughest archery antelope hunting ever. It was just starting to dry up and we had several bucks at about 80 years today but now it's raining again tonight, waterholes will still be useless, back to stalking tomorrow... :bash:

Be sure and apply before Aug 31 cougar deadline.

I have been talking to people in the right places trying to get hounders a pursuit season, that is what we really need for training hounds. If you guys want to help out the hounders, send a few short letters to the wildlife commission, county commissioners, and legislators and ask for a pursuit season with equal number of tags as kill tags. I posted a contact list so you can easily send email.

When are the hunt dates?

The wife leaves for Korea Jan 2, 2010. Not going to put her in for one if she is not going to be here to enjoy it..

Thanks
Joe

I'm in.
I understand the consternation felt by those with hounds about people without hounds being able to apply for the permit BUT...if you stop and think about it from a numbers standpoint; higher numbers of applicants might actually increase the number of permits afforded to hound only hunters! I agree with bearpaws attempt to convince those in charge to allocate an equal number of permits for both types of hunts as that would be the most fair option.

I just want to get out there and do some good hunting and think it would be great to meet some fellow hunters and enjoy the hunt with other like-minded people. Get tired of all the "other types" over here on the wet side!

houndhunter...if you get a chance send an email message to the wildlife commission and to the WDFW requesting a pursuit season. Politely explain to them that you need to have time in the woods in order to maintain trained dogs. Ask them to please issue an equal number of pursuit only permits to houndhunters only.

The state is listening to this request, they understand that they need a few hounders with experienced hounds around the state in case of emergencies that could arise with depredations. Send email today, and get as any other people to send email as possible. This will only happen if enough people ask for it.

I hope one of you guys draw a tag.

Maybe we can invite a couple of the other doggers on here to come and participate in the hunt so they get a chance to hunt thier dogs some too. :twocents:

Im in guys! Stevens/PendOreille with hounds as first choice and without as second choice.
I used to own dogs too, but after putting in for 4years and only being drawn for pursuit only, which also took away my points. The way I see it these dogs were trained to do one thing and they love running cats just as much as I love hunting.
I ended up selling them as I wasn't able to give them what they needed anymore.
