Dayton Elk Scouting
« on: August 22, 2009, 02:22:52 PM »
I spent a day and a half in the Dayton 162 unit and would like to thank all the great people that I met there, you know who you are.  "Everyone" was great and full of information on the big bull modern hunt.  I still need to do a lot more homework but it was a great start.   Thanks again for the help, it is beautiful classic elk country.

Did you run into many elk or were you down there getting permisson from land owners to hunt? Just wondering. I was down there 2 weeks ago and struggled to fine many elk. I was there during the middle of the day and it was hot so I did not expect to see much moving around. I wish you luck on your hunt and hope to see pics!

My main goal was to get permission and learn the roads etc.  I did do a little galssing and did not see any elk.  Next time I will focus on looking a harder.  If I get lucky i will post pics.  Cheers
