Hornady Lock and Load AP Press
« on: September 03, 2009, 06:55:17 PM »
Anyone on here have one or used one.  Thoughts...likes...dislikes.    Seems to be a pretty good press, just looking for some input before a possible purchase.  Thanks in advance.

Got one 2 years ago.  No complaints.  Well built press... actually I believe it's based on the old Pacific design.

If you load multiple cal it's really handy. You buy the bushing for every cal and get your dies set in em and you're go to go.... real easy to switch from one to another.  Neat concept.

The high end Lee, the RCBS and the Hornady are all pretty nice presses... can kinda through a blanket over em in respect to quality/functionality.  The lock/load kinda seperated the Hornady for me.  Then again you can always just step up w/ the dough and buy Blue  :chuckle:

Thanks....went ahead and ordered one.  Pretty good offer at the moment...send in UPC and receipt and this press qualifies for 1000 free Hornady bullets for reloading.  Each die set you purchase if on a separate receipt by themselves, qualify for 100 free bullets.  So I need .243, .308,.300Win Mag, and .325 WSM, as well as .300 Ultra Mag for a friend, so if I do it right I can get 1500 total....which saves some bucks.  Thanks for the reply Intruder.

progressives are great for handguns and plinking ammo outta semi auto riffles. i don't like them for rounds i intend to hunt with. i would rather use a single stage for my riffles. for example it takes me just as long to load 20 rounds for my 300 as it does to load 200 for my 1911. every round is exact for my 300, for my 1911 as long as they go bang thats good enough for plinkin

littlebug....agree.  Will probably use it as a single stage on rifle till I get comfortable with it and the different loads I want to use.  Eventually planning on pistol reloading so progressive made sense, and I didn't want to turn around and spend money later on an upgrade.
