Got my first deer opening day
«

Got this guy 20 minutes into the season. Was in place on a ridge overlooking a field an hour before opening light. Was the first deer that I spotted after opening light. The shot was less than 75 yards and he expired within 20 yards.
As a note, I was hunting with hunter orange on. It was taken off at the truck for the pics only.

The shot did enter a little high. I held high since the deer was 40 feet or so below me and fairly close. Wanted to make sure i got the offside lung as well as the onside, and I did.

Nice job! Looks like a good buck! Doesn't it suck to feel like you have to explain the whole hunter orange thing on this site though?

Thanks guys. This was my third year deer hunting. No luck in years 1 or 2. Right after opening light day 1 and he walks right in. I guess third year is a charm.
