My second year hunting with my daughter. We had a double within 3 minutes of each other. Her first deer. We both had permits so we went a day early to fill them. She had a 62 yard heart shot on hers. After the shot we held tight and then I took mine as she filmed it. General season started the next day and we both wanted to hunt up high so we moved camp. Thanks to Andersons for hanging our deer. We hunted hard for four days after that. Our group saw plenty of deer, just not at the elevations we like to shoot them at. Little water and browse. We kept at it anyway and got into plenty of deer just not the shooter bucks that we wanted to see. Made some new friends that we would like to see you again and all-around just had a great experience. On a side note, on the last day, we had a two hour hike out to do and separated from one of my friends. As we went down a mile long draw we had a cougar jump out in front of us, I threw the gun up the cougar and the thing exploded in a cloud of dust and all my daughter saw was paws flipping in the air. I scanned the area looking for him but he was nowhere to be seen. Moments later as we were hiking out I could hear a loud strange noise coming from the ravine next to us. I had never heard this noise before and it was about the spookiest thing you could hear. I radioed my friend and told him about the cougar, he was going to hunt until dark and then hike out. He told me to make sure I told the cougar that he would be hiking out later so it could set up it's ambush properly. Two hours later I get a text from him that says he shot the cougar as he came down the same path as we did. It was screaming from two ravines away and closed the distance in under 5 seconds. It came running out of the woods towards him, howling all the way. He threw his gun up on it and it stopped in its tracks at 50 yards. Through his scope it was flashing it's teeth and roaring at him. He shot and the cat disappeared. 15 minutes of light left, he got the hell out of there. The next day they went in to find it. They think coyotes had it treed near by from the noises they heard. Never found the cat but we all walked within 20 yards of its kill site.
