Book Review
« on: November 23, 2009, 10:55:52 PM »
With the holidays comming I thought it would be great to  get some ideas for good books .
I have a review for one called Barebow
  BOOK REVIEW

BAREBOW!
The hunting book of your dreams!

As I sit and watch my favorite hunting shows, I often wish I could be there! Just like you, I wish I was young enough or rich enough or strong enough to go on these incredible adventures we see or hear about. Well, my friends, now we can go along with Dennis Dunn as he attempts to complete his quest for the twenty-nine North American big-game species --- with no sights on his bow!

Dennis takes his readers through the intimate details of the hardships and the glories of achieving the ultimate goal of this lifelong quest. This is the book of your dreams!
Weighing in at over 9 lbs., BAREBOW! has 504 pages and 29 chapters of tastefully written stories even non-hunters will enjoy reading. Add the magnificent artistry of award-winning Idaho artists Hayden Lambson and his son, Dallen Lambson, and BAREBOW! becomes a beautiful coffee table addition for your family and guests to enjoy now --- and for generations to come.

Hayden’s 30 paintings depict each species in all the splendor of each one’s natural environment (with two for the Grizzly Bear, in honor of Dunn’s World Record). Woven into the chapters, as well, are 36 of Dallen’s remarkable wildlife pencil drawings.  The work also contains at the very back of the volume (with appropriate page references) 60 color photographs of the author’s best shots taken over his hunting lifetime --- of wildlife alive “on the hoof,” and striking wilderness landscapes.

BAREBOW! An Archer’s Fair-Chase Taking of North America’s Big-Game 29 is truly an exciting treasury of hunting stories unlike anything ever before published in this type of format.  I think it would be hard to imagine a more remarkable hunting book, or one that is better written for those who enjoy outdoor adventure and good reading.  Though this book may SEEM pricey, let me assure you it is worth every penny! It is truly a work of art.

BAREBOW! is a personal account of Dennis Dunn's  40-year odyssey to harvest all 29 huntable species of big game in North America - ranging from Whitetail Deer to Grizzly Bear.  BAREBOW! presents the sort of campfire tales of adventure and misadventure that hunters never tire of hearing - or ever forget.  Each is a demonstration of the power of perseverance, sacrifice, and sometimes - bad luck or blind luck!

"A bow, a string, an arrow - no trigger, no peep-sights, no pins - just fingers, guts and instinct.  That's hunting BAREBOW!" ---- Dennis Dunn

Ok Here's a good book by Gregg Gutschow called " Life at  Full Draw"
This a book about Chuck Adams telling his life story from beginning , where he hunted with his family threw his lifes tribulations , marriage, devorce, the successful hunts along with the trils that came with the success.
Many photos and quotes from Chuck along with insite into his views on why hw hunts.
A great guift for any hunter especaly the archers in your family!
