Cameras for wildlife
« on: May 21, 2007, 09:32:39 AM »
What cameras/lenses do you use for wildlife photography?
  I use Nikon 8008s and mostly 75-300 lens or 400 f5.6.
Considering a Nikon d40x digital.

I use a panasonic Lumix Fz10.  There has been the release of the 20, 30 , and 50 I believe now.  Its a really good affordable camera with a 12 power optical zoom that relates to a 420mm with an fstop of 2.8 I believe.  I used to use a Canon A2E with a 400mm fixed, but it was as heavy as a horse and most wildlife shooting is in poor light condition.  A Canon lens at 400mm with an f stop of 2.8 would cost you over 10 grand.  I understand the 20 and 30  are noisey but they fixed that for the 50.  I have heard good things about the Nikon. I know several photographers that swear by it.  The other thing positive about panasonic as it uses Leica glass.
