Late muzzy elk

 So there i wuz late muzzloader tag in hand that started on new years day   after a frustrating early elk season
i was determined to put meat in the freezer. Went out day before opener and found a herd of six feeding on the top of a fresh cut they worked there way into the timber so i figuerd id catch them in the same area in the morning morning came i was at the top they were at the bottom just my luck. my cousin had a tag as well and was on the way to my place that afternoon after partying all night so I made a plan of attack for the next morning thinking no problem done deal got to the spot next morning not an elk in sight we hiked around all day got back the same cut with about  a half hour of light left to see them just going into the reprod ok be back in the morning   ended up waking up around seven thirty batterys went dead in the alarm clock       So we went and had breakfast with the fam my cousin went home after we got back   I went hunting got to the spot around two thirty around four thirty I heard some brush breaking just behind me I slowly turned my head and there she was 18 yards broadside all byherself she went about 30 feet and piled up with a lung and liver shot

Nice cow. I've always wondered how guys get elk out whole. It's always in pcs for me. Whats the secret ?

This was a boistfort cow tag and the trick to getting them out whole is shootn them up hill rollem down hill this was only the second one ive got out whole game carts are life and back savers to but both were smaller cows and close to the road if im meat hunting I try not to get the biggest cow in the herd
