Want your input on a gun
« on: January 19, 2010, 05:41:20 PM »
I am looking at a Rem Model 7. 300 WSM with the fluted barrel and camo stock. It has a 3x9 Ziess on it. He has a reciept for 949$ on the gun and 699$ for the scope. It looks 100% and he claims he only shot it 5 times and has the other 15 rounds with it. How much is it worth ???>?

does anyone have any input on the model 7 and how it shoots. I was told Rem discontinued this particular model. Really like the looks and feel and am thinking about picking it up. It is really light weight. :dunno: :dunno: :P THANKS GUYS

900 bux is top dollar if I am buying. I get that scope for $400 and the gun for 550 buying right......sometimes even better. if it is a rapid 600 reticle....add 50 bux.

seems like he is a bit proud of the rifle the way I see it. But they are good, little, and handy rifles.

I just can't see giving more than $750 for the package.  Numerous Remington Model 7 Predator (camo, fluted barrel) on Gunbroker right now for $636 new in the box.  The Zeiss Conquest you can pick up under $400.  Looks to em like he paid $1650 for a rifle that can be had for $1100, new, to your specs, for about $1100.

He can reasonably hold out for about 80% of that, but my top offer would be $750.  I would be giddy to get it for $500.  But then I'm a cheap sucker and love to shop for bargains on firearms.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

See if he'll let you shoot ti firts before buying.  Why's he selling it.  If you really like the gun and it's something you'd make possibly your "everyday" gun, then $900 seems not too bad if he'll let you shoot it first.  If not I gotta agree with doublelung, I'd offer him $750.

Forgot to add this, my buddies kid has a model seven and I know two other guy who shoot them and they are dang fine shooters.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

he claims he only shot it 5 times and has the other 15 rounds with it.

That's probably because he couldn't handle the recoil. A 300 WSM in that little model 7 is a little too much in my opinion. I've got one in a 243 Winchester but for a 300 WSM I'd be looking for a heavier rifle.

He got stroked on both IMO.  I'm w/ High Country.... around 900-1K.  I'd lay down 17 50$ bills and see what he says.
