don't you mean to D.C. in 2014?  Sorry I am still thinking that is funny.  I picture myself running a campaign against Patty Murray or maria cantwell or whoever and it makes me laugh.   :chuckle:

whacker1, if you wanted to run I would strongly support you. You could run a campaign slogan "dad in hunting clothes". :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Actually you are exactly what this state needs, some responsible citizens serving, who want to make the state and country a better place to live.

You are not the first to suggest me running for office, but they would have to sort through my dirtly laundry publicly before we could go down that path.  And I am not ready to put my family through that.  Plus I would have to go through all the mini-stages of running for elected government.  City Council, then State Representative, then State Senator, then Congressional representative, then congressional senator, etc.  I have lots of folks that encourage me to run, but even those folks know that I am too much of a conservative to actually get elected by teling the truth.

Plus how can I spend time researching hunting on a state computer?

I am more likely to pursue a career as a lobbyist than I am to run for public office.  Besides who is going o elect a insurance agent?  We rank up there with used car dealers, stock brokers, drug dealers, and the like.   :chuckle:

Wildlife does not need a co ordinater to help with climate change. Nature can take care of itself for the most part. What a waste of resources.

Speaking of needless jobs..............

Funny how WDFW has evolved from the old Dept. of Game.  Back in the 60's and 70's the Game Dept. had a Small Game Mgr. and a Big Game Mgr.    They pretty much handled the headquarters portion of those programs...the annual reports, season setting recommendations, etc. with input from Regional staff.

Now in headquarters (Olympia) you have a Game Program Mgr., with an Upland Mgr., Deer Mgr., Elk Mgr., Bear/Cougar Mgr., Furbearer Mgr., Waterfowl Mgr., and whatever else....at least a few under these subordinate managers under the Game Mgr.  Funny thing is in the case of some, like upland game, there is far fewer birds to mange than years ago....fewer hunters, and less opportunity on things like deer and elk, and a reduction in demand for fur, and probably other things....all of which required that.....

WDFW essentially replaced Two (2) jobs from old Game with at least 6 or 7 under today's scheme, with less to manage.  Of course you also have a similar organizational chart for non-game.  However.......the number of field staff....you know the employees out there in communities actually trying to do something...or at least some of them.......has probably pretty much remained the same for years....Wildlife Agents as an example.

Most of this grandiose organization structure is all about pay scales and how many folks report to other folks.....means higher salaries....nothing based on performance....as you are all pretty much aware of.  God forbid WDFW tries to operate like a private business....they like being unaccountable!

This is just crazy...I hope the WDFW is abolished its rotten from the core.  There might only be 5% of the employees that do anything to help game in this state...the rest is waste.

The main prob is the people in Olympia! Get rid of them and problem solved.

The job description is written for someone with those qualifications that is known in the department. I've run across a lot of job listing like this on local, state, and federal levels. A department head knows of a person with these exact qualifications and gets the job written up so when THAT person's job app. appears they are #1 in every-one's eyeballs.

That's a given...............the problem is the job itself.  In this economic climate and all that's going on with license fees, new application process to get more dollars, on and on and on......  what the hell is WDFW thinking.  That's got to be the most ridiculous expenditure of funds I have ever seen....period.

Washington like many other states, is financially strapped and cutting jobs and these loonies come up with this new job to spend money on........just like always....cut staff out in the field when budget cuts are directed by the Governor then turn around and do something like this.  It's not needed............climate change is smoke and mirrors.....just like this job!

I agree.

Not only that but how are they justifying this hire? There is supposed to be a hiring freeze and justification is needed to have it approved. :bash:
